Tips to Speed Up Your Online Writing

Online writing is not something to get rich quickly with. It can work out profitable if you can find well paying clients and websites. It is also important to be able to write high quality content quickly. This means that you can write more and gain more money on a daily basis – utilizing all your options completely. Here are some tips to writing quickly but maintaining the high quality.

Plan Out Your Day

Before you start writing, plan out the day ahead. I usually do this the night before but there have been times that I have had to plan it out on the morning. It is worth buying a large diary or having your computer calendar at the ready. Make a note of all the clients and websites that you need to fit into your day and the amount of time that you realistically need to spend writing on them. This will give you an idea of how much work you have and how long you will be writing during the day.

Plan regular breaks too; including small breaks to give your eyes a rest. You will likely have between 30 and 60 minutes for your lunch but make sure you put 10 minute breaks each hour that you write. These 10 minutes need to be spent away from the computer so your eyes can rest and give you the chance to move.

Plan Your Research

As you start writing for each client or website, have a list of all the keywords that you will be using. You may need to research them yourself, especially if you are writing your own blogs. It is also worth having a list of article titles and topics that you will write on. Do this for each of your clients so that you can quickly look at the list and get writing. It will make your online writing go much quicker and will mean a better pay for the day.

Choose Topics that Are Easy to Write About

Avoid difficult topics where possible. Simple “how to” articles, tips and basic information are the topics that people are after on the internet. These will require less research to write – and there are chances that you will be able to write about things from the top of your head – so you will be able to earn more money per hour.

When writing for yourself, it is worth finding a niche that you are knowledgeable about. This means that you will need to do less research before you start writing. This could be something about writing, photography or even avionics. You may even choose to write product reviews on a regular basis.

Do Not Write Too Much

People do not like reading a lot of information on the screen and extra words take more time. Keep your work to the point and short. Many online articles are between 400 and 800 words. This offers enough space to write about a topic and include all the relevant information. If you find that you need to write more, use information for another article topic.

Got Writer’s Block?

Got part way through your article and realized that you have writer’s block? Instead of trying to force yourself to finish the piece, move onto the next article on your list of things to do; you can always go back to that one later in the day. The only time that you may not be able to do this is if you have a tight deadline.

If you are writing for yourself and find that you are stuck on a piece, you may find that it is better to delete it completely. Only attempt your own article three times; if you do not have anything in the end, it probably is not worth writing about anyway.

As a new writer, you may find that the research takes up time. You will find that it takes longer to think of ideas, find keywords and make sure you have all the information about it. However, this will get easier and eventually you should be able to write a high quality article in about 20 minutes and then you just need to proofread and edit.
